The Datacom Software Asset Management (SAM) Consultant will provide software asset management expertise to deliver solutions to Datacom’s customers and prospects nationally.  The consultant will provide quality customer pre-sales in scoping the SAM solution, plan the solution implementation, champion the delivery of the solution and processes, verification and continued maintenance of the solution. The position of SAM Consultant may include frequent travel.  
 
Role Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective and smooth delivery of customer’s SAM solutions
  • Ensure that SAM plans, processes and procedures are developed incorporating good practise methodologies, accurately documented, successfully implemented, appropriately communicated to customer’s stakeholders, and provide continuous SAM optimized solutions for organisations
  • Provide quality customer service through adherence to Datacom’s Asset Management Solution’s service delivery methodology and processes
  • Perform SAM Deployment Planning: provides deployment expertise for processes and technologies to support key SAM areas, including deployment, metering, inventory and control.  Special focus on solutions deploying Microsoft technologies including System Centre, MDOP AIS, or MAP License discovery reports
  • Understand the SAM management technologies and their capabilities, in particular, License Dashboard, Flexera and SNOW software
  • Interpret the data outputs from the SAM management technologies and provide accurate reporting
  • Conduct SAM Baselines: includes ascertaining inventory of deployed software assets, review of corresponding customer license entitlement documentation, virtual, hosted, or cloud-based licensing, and identification of any opportunities for license optimisation
  • Complete Effective License Position (ELP) reports for customers using latest templates from Datacom’s SAM methodology and Microsoft
  • Timely and accurate communication of customer’s software license compliance positions including inventory data and software license entitlement details including licensing contracts
  • Perform SAM Assessment: review of customers’ existing SAM processes against the Microsoft SAM Optimization Model framework, identifying improvement opportunities and associated ROI  
Essential Desirable Knowledge
  • A strong knowledge of SAM practices and standards
  • Solid understanding of the SAM lifecycle processes
  • Working knowledge of Software Management technologies and tool sets
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Software vendor licensing programs
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
 Skills
  • Uses a logical and systematic approach to understand an issue or a problem and to make a decision or develop a solution
  • Ability to work within, and adhere to a formalised service delivery methodology
  • Ability to document and review asset management business practises and procedures and make necessary recommendations
Qualifications and Certifications
  • ITIL SAM Certification
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a SAM role preferably with software licensing expertise
  • Microsoft MCP SAM cert
